Well, nothing is for sure yet but the director basically asked me to do it. Of course I still have to audition like everyone else, but it is nice to know that I will most probably get to do this. For the first time! I know the Queen's two arias but have never actually performed the role so this is a great opportunity. I feel I need to know more about her though. What kind of a woman is she? What's her story before she goes cuckoo? What does she eat for breakfast? Does she eat at all?? The Queen of the Night is an iconic character in opera, not only because of her extreme music but because of who she is. She is a magical creature, but nonetheless is capable of the kind of hatred only known to mankind; who else but a crazy woman would ask her daughter to kill someone for? I cannot wait to learn more about her and FINALLY get a chance to tackle this pillar of the operatic repertoire.
